I designed and built Mons Domus to serve as a secular monastic hermitage: a locus of contemplative solitude and creative exploration.
I reside here with a pack of rescue dogs, two non-releasable starlings, a rescued canary, and a cycle of rehabilitating wild animals. I run a small gardening business from my home, and also spend time reading, gardening, playing squeezeboxes, finishing the trimmings on the house, and building small boats.
I am writing this blog to share my experiences developing a truly secular monastic rule for myself, as well as routine life in my monastery.
Welcome to Mons Domus!
