The excitement never ends

March 22, a gorgeous Spring day. Cloudless clear skies, rapidly rising temps, and some outdoor work to do, but not much to worry about, so I thought.

The much anticipated day of not-much-to-do-but-putz started off with a surprising and unusual case of hives. From my calves, up my legs, my backsides and lower back. I suspect it was triggered by a brief encounter with a raspberry bush. I did rake the leaves off the chives, horseradish, and asparagus: the perennials that seem to be the only things that will grow in my shady garden.

Now that the snow has mostly melted, a lot of construction debris that I had forgotten about was exposed. Hives and all, I cleaned up much of that, and parts of my yard look a lot better now. I’m getting a nice bird watching and meditation area set up, and also am simply trying to make the place look a little less like a hoarder lives here.

Indoors, Bear came by to pick up his remaining birthday presents and we moved the large pedal windchest into a corner and anchored it securely. It’s out of the way and won’t fall on anyone. He also brought me some chocolates. We talked for a while about pedal boards (he’s designing the ultimate pedal board for his guitar), and he played with the dogs.

After he left, Odie grazed along the counter and got the chocolate. He at 5 dark chocolate bars. I used an online calculator to determine if he needed to be whisked to the vet, no, but close. So he’d be under my close eye.

Janet came over for a bit and we checked out the new telescope. We were able to see the moon, but I couldn’t make head nor tails of the lenses. I need to read up and have a better plan. We did get some amazing views of the moon, which was in first quarter and very bright!

Shortly after Janet left, Odie’s chocolate symptoms kicked in. That poor dog was beyond hyper for about three hours. (During which Bear called and reported that he got a speeding ticket.) Odin was literally bouncing off the walls, the other dogs, the furniture, spinning in circles. Then peeing gallons. I felt awful for him. Finally exhausted, he slept soundly all night curled up by my shoulder.

I’m hoping today is less eventful. Odie’s tired today, but acting normally. My hives have calmed down and my T-shirt no longer feels like sandpaper. An arborist is coming to clear some dead limbs over the house, but that should be the only excitement.
