Things at my business are a bit crazy. The business grows, and it’s hard to keep up sometimes. Usually January is dead (It’s a gardening business), but we’re in a crunch. I have 3 full timers, and they all got very ill over Christmas. Two are back, and one is waiting for doctor’s permission to work.
It was scary. It reminded me how much I care about these folks who work so hard for me.
Today we had a ZoomAll-Hands meeting. Everyone was happy to see each other again despite the awkward format. We discussed staffing, some new benefits, some things we will vote on, and new hires. I also took some work home and helped out a bit packaging.
Being project day, I finished my new habit, which is Franciscan in style, and made of army blankets. I built the tunic yesterday, and the scapular today, with an integrated hood and lined with flannel. It ended up being a bit of a topology problem, but it all worked out in the end. So, now I have two habits, one from my urban monastic days, which is a grayscale pattern, and this one, which is just a mossy green. Both attract dog hair and are excessively warm. I plan to make some kind of lighter weight and burr resistant canvas tunic for summer. I should consider tick prevention in the design, too. I had Lymes last year.
I’m online now watching the Georgia Senate Runoffs and drinking wine. I’d love to be practicing accordion, but I just wouldn’t focus, so I caved in.
Until we get some new hires at work, I will have to go in some and help out. That disrupts my peace and quiet a good bit, so I will have to savor those peaceful times as they come.
