With little more time.

A few days into the big media reduction shift, I’ve found I have some extra time. And I realize that I should update my routine.

Here are somethings I’m thinking of expanding:

  • More food prep for easier healthy eating.
  • More music practice.
  • Making upgrades to bird habitat outside, particularly hanging some kind of window markers to prevent strikes, my current set up is kind of high maintenance
  • Doing more formal training with the puppy. He’s an adolescent coonhound-shepherd and has just figured out how to clear the 4′ fence in an easy bound, so he needs some structure!
  • Mandating exercise daily

I think the minimization of Facebook will be very good for me. Although I agree that humor is a good balm for rage at times, the amount of snark on virtually every topic was a significant stressor. When I watch my dogs, play, I see them ramp up to mock fights with dog snark, the teasing and persistent nipping that harasses the other dog into chase or wrestle. It’s fun once in a while, but there are other important ways creatures need to interact. In voluntary isolation or lockdown, if your only engagement is snark, it’s not going to help contribute to peace of mind.

A bit of a ramble. I’m off to continue work on the new bird screen- for lack of a better word.

Truss to hang a curtain of paracord. Hopefully this will prevent bird strikes on my windowwall.
